AVENIDA PÍO XII AND CALLE BAMBÚ
OFFICE BULDING
1993. MADRID.
The building will occupy a large corner plot fronting onto Avenida Pío XII and Calle Bambú, in the Chamartín district of Madrid.
The project is for four underground floors and twelve floors above ground.
The underground floors, which occupy the entire extension of the parcel, will be used for car parking and installations.
Twelve storeys are planned above ground – a ground floor, and eleven identical floors dedicated to office space. Access to the building is via the ground floor, which will be used for reception, a vestibule housing elevators and a staircase, with the remaining space dedicated to offices.
The building is rectangular in shape, with a surface area on each floor of 33m x 15m. It occupies approximately 14% of the parcel: the remaining surface area is dedicated to vehicle access to the ramp leading to the car park, and to green zones and pedestrian and leisure areas.
The facades are formed by a curtain wall, using a structural silicone system, and a combination of plate glass in different colours. The effect culminates on the top floor with a semi-circular crowning design.
Three panoramic elevators have been located on one of the side facades, and the fire escape on the other.
