PASSENGER SERVICE ACTIVITY CENTRE.
MADRID BARAJAS AIRPORT.
1999. MADRID.

The objective of this proposal is to fulfil the needs of the Passenger Service Activity Centre in Madrid Barajas Airport, in order to guarantee the operation of various future activities and to ensure profitability.

These needs can be summarised in the following fundamental aspects:

  1. Avoid the dispersal of commercial areas, grouping them to achieve a critical mass that will ensure their operation, and integrating them into the plaza that leads to office buildings, hotels, convention centre, business centre, etc.
  1. Design office buildings to facilitate the lease of small units, in accordance with forecast demand.
  1. Diversify the hotel offer into two categories equivalent to 4 and 5 stars, increasing the forecast number of rooms.
  1. Join the planned car park to the existing P-2 and optimize the number of parking spaces without increasing the area dedicated to this usage.
  1. Elevate the access level to office buildings, hotels and commercial area.
  1. Provide roofing for pedestrian walkways connecting T2 and T3 terminals with the P-2 car park and the Underground station.
