FUERTEVENTURA AIRPORT
Proposal for enlargement and re-modelling of the Terminal building.
2001. Fuerteventura.
The existing building features three floors – basement, ground floor and first floor - that will all be enlarged to their full extent.
This is a modern building, built recently, with a singular roof that wraps around the entire complex.
The enlargement project aims to increase surface area and total usage, without altering the existing architectural image. It is not the aim of the project to draw attention to the incorporation of a new large volume.
The new airport will increase considerably in size, improving functionality and offering an end result that is harmonious, unified and adapted to its singular location.
The building, in a singular, attractive design, is very well maintained. Enlargement will involve alterations; current usage of the building also recommends the modification of some finishes and installations.
Inside, the frontage of the commercial premises on the ground floor has been carefully designed to integrate with the overall image of the building, and the aim is to preserve this singular design.
In view of the fact that Fuerteventura’s tourist industry is principally aimed at families, a key element of the project is to provide the new building with large, functional and interesting leisure spaces for children.
